    Kodaikanal (also known as Kodai) is a city and a Taluk division of Dindigul district in the South Indian state of Tamilnadu, South India, the serene hill resort of Kodaikanal nestles amidst the spectacular greenery of the Palani hills.

    Kodaikanal lies in the Palani hills which is the eastern offshoot of the Western Ghats covering an area of 2400 Sq. Km, and the town of Kodaikanal is centrally located. The Palani Hills is the main watershed for the Vaigai (South) and Amaravathi (Cauvery) (North) Basins. Geographically, Kodaikanal is located at a latitude of 10 deg 7' N to 10 deg 20' N and a longitude of 77 deg 16' E to 77 deg 45' E. Kodaikanal is situated at an altitude of about 2,133 m.
