Shenbaganur Museum is located about 5 km from the lake. The Sacred Heart College maintains this museum. One of the best orchidoriums in the country with more than 300 species of orchids and wide-ranging collection of birds an impressive collection of stuffed-birds and the butterflies are found here.

The Shenbaganur Museum, founded in 1895, is open for the public to view their outstanding collection of exotic orchid species and artifacts of the ancient Paliyans tribes people whose descendants still live in these hills. There are several popular hiking and trekking trails in the Palani Hills that originate near the Museum.

This museum is devoted to archaeological remains and the flora and fauna of the hills. A Spanish Father Ugarthe, contributed his major collections to the Museum. Entrance fee Rs one per head.

Working hours 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM and 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
